LGD Guangzhou 8.5G LCD Panel Line in Production

(Sinocast Computers & Electronics Beat (China) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) GUANGZHOU, September 2, SinoCast -- Guangzhou 8.5G LCD panel production line with a total investment of USD 4 billion from LG Display (LGD) has been put into production, being the first panel plant for the global biggest LCD panel supplier outside South Korea, which will help the company boost local market share.

The Guangzhou 8.5G production line will mainly focus on making 55-inch, 49-inch and 42-inch LCD panels, making 600,000 glass substrates per month, expected to make 4K LCD panels by the end of 2014 and realize full production by the end of 2016, when it will make 120,000 glass substrates per month.

Chinese customers of LGD included TV makers like Skyworth, Hisense, Changhong, Konka and TCL. Skyworth has taken stake in Guangzhou 8.5G production line, which is also biggest local foreign funded project, 70% held by LGD.
