DOHA: In a humanitarian and caring initiative, Qatar Fuel (Woqod), the leading downstream energy company in Qatar, donated QR1m to Qatar Charity in support of Gaza as part of its corporate social responsibility.

In Woqod's headquarter,  Ibrahim Jaham Al Kuwari, CEO, presented a cheque to Abdel Nasser Al Zahr Al Yafaey, Executive Director, Collection and Management, Qatar Charity, in the presence of Sheikha Sara Nasser Al Thani.  Al Kuwari said, "Due to the difficult humanitarian conditions experienced by the residents of Gaza because of the continued attacks, Woqod has allocated its support for the relief of our people in Gaza, and this is what we have learned from our Islamic religion.

"We will continue our efforts to expand our partnership with Qatar Charity and support its charitable projects that enhance the bright face of Qatar and its people." Al Yafaey expressed appreciation and said, "We would like to thank Woqod for the donation.  "We hope that other companies follow the example of Woqod to finance more projects destined for the benefit of the Palestinian people to alleviate their suffering, especially in the areas of food, health and shelter." At the end of the meeting, Al Yafaey presented a commemorative shield from Qatar Charity to Woqod in recognition of its initiative.

The initiative is part of Woqod's growing support for charitable and social programmes and reflects its corporate social responsibility strategy.
