(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NEW YORK, April 25 -- The United Nations issued the following news release: The multilingual version of the iPhone app The United Nations Calendar of Observances: Making a Difference is now available free of charge in seven languages, in response to user feedback from around the world, and can be downloaded through

Version 2.1.2 of the app, which functions in all six official United Nations languages as well as Bahasa Indonesia, features information on United Nations observances, and illustrates the breadth of the Organization's activities around the world. It also provides information on the world body's achievements, links to videos and websites, as well as options for sharing information via e-mail and social media.

The app is a collaborative effort in software development, translation, research and graphic design involving staff from the Department of Public Information -- including the United Nations Information Centre in Jakarta -- and UNV online volunteering teams from around the world.
