The friendly Ghost [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)]

(DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Even from a distance, the Ghost is instantly recognisable as a Rolls-Royce. Design elements such as the high frontage, long bonnet and chrome-plated visible exhaust give it an air of informal presence. The classic 2:1 proportions of the wheel to body height ensure that Ghost is a Rolls-Royce through and through. .

With a clear, uncluttered interior and V12 engine that effortlessly gives a seemingly endless surge of power, the Rolls-Royce Ghost provides a striking demonstration of the power of simplicity. A top speed of 250 km/h, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, this is a car designed to be as enjoyable to drive as it is to be driven in. From its full grain leather to its whisper-quiet performance, Ghost is a delight to the senses. The simple, contemporary interior has comfort built into every inch. From the lamb wool foot mats, right through to the cashmere-blend roof lining above you, this is a space to savour.

The sunroof lets a large amount of light into the cabin for a light and airy feel. If you are looking for even more poise and dynamism, Ghost Extended Wheelbase brings you 17 cm more space, with the same driving dynamics.

Powered by a twin turbo 6.6-litre V12 engine, you feel effortless power as you drive, while the advanced air suspension creates the 'magic carpet ride' Rolls-Royce is known for. Satellite Aided Transmission uses GPS data and the navigation system to predict the road ahead. It then automatically chooses the right gear on the eight speed transmission delivering power smoothly without any unnecessary gear changes.

The bespoke audio system allows you to immerse yourself in the rich surround sound delivered by 18 speakers located throughout the vehicle. Even the headlining acts as a speaker. Choose the rear theatre configuration, and rear passengers can enjoy the multimedia entertainment and information thanks to two high-resolution LCD screens, and can control the audio and visual media from the comfort of the rear seats.

Ghost can also come with a comfort entry system that remotely senses the key's presence and enables you to unlock the door simply by grasping the handle. The spirit of ecstasy rotary controller lets you manage everything from your journey planner to your address book all on one touchpad, simply with the swipe of your finger.

The head up display projects information directly on to the windscreen in front of you, so you can concentrate on the road ahead.

It lets you do everything from checking your speed to following navigation directions, all without having to look down, keeping eye fatigue and distractions to a minimum.

As darkness falls, the night vision system makes a difference. A discreet infrared camera in the grille detects body heat of pedestrians and animals up to 300 metres away.

There are so many ways you can personalise your Ghost. Select an alternative black version of the Rolls-Royce clock, or add a personalised motif to the headrest embroidery, tread plates and even the coach line.

Even the spirit of ecstasy can be finished to your tastes, illuminated or gold plated.
