(Manufacturing Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Detroit Medical Center CEO Joe Mullanyannounced Larry M. Gold will become the new president of the Children's Hospital of Michigan, effective January 1, 2014.
Gold brings 23 years experience in leading children's hospitals and pediatric specialty care to his new role at the Children's Hospital of Michigan.
"We look forward to having Larry join our team. He is a seasoned executive who has devoted his entire career to the delivery of pediatric health care and serving our most vulnerable population. His background in running several children's hospitals, working in an academic and research-focused environment, and as a child health care advocate will position us well to best serve the patients and families in our care throughout the region and state," said Mullany.
Children's Hospital of Michigan Board Chair Erica Ward Gerson led a team in an international search for the position. "We are absolutely thrilled in our choice of Larry Gold. He is uniquely qualified to guide us in the next exciting phase of Children's Hospital of Michigan's 125-year-plus history, as we continue to grow and develop as one of the best hospitals in the nation solely dedicated to the treatment of children," said Gerson.

In addition to his leadership at British Columbia Children's Hospital, Gold previously served as president and chief executive officer at Connecticut Children's Medical Center and Newington Children's Hospital in Hartford, Conn., and as administrator of the Children's Hospital of Illinois at OSF Healthcare in Peoria, Ill.
Gold is active in the community and has served as chairman of the board of directors of the Canadian Association of Pediatric Health Centers, chairman of the board of directors of the Connecticut Hospital Association and board member and chair of the Advocacy Committee of the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (now the Children's Hospital Association).
