Blancco Joins Device Renewal Forum for Development of Mobile Certification Process

JOENSUU, Finland, January 22, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Blancco supports DRF industry group processes for safe reuse and certification of mobile devices; showcases data erasure solutions at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona Although more than 1.68 billion wireless devices are produced yearly, less than 10 percent of them are recycled or renewed. To support safe renewal and develop new markets for these mobile devices, Blancco, the global leader in data erasure and computer reuse solutions, is working with the Device Renewal Forum (DRF) international industry group. DRF's mission is to expand the global growth of the device renewal market through development of a common and branded certification process for renewed mobile devices.

The DRF looks to establish a single certification process for testing and certifying renewed smartphones, feature phones, USB modems and other wireless devices to ensure they meet rigorous product quality and performance standards. Blancco is collaborating with members to contribute to DRF guidelines for a secure data sanitization process that ensures privacy and data removal from renewed mobile devices.
