BRIEF: Prep Wrestling: Adna's Broom Stays Unbeaten

ADNA, Dec 12, 2012 (The Chronicle - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Adna's Steven Broom won both of his matches in the 220-pound classification and Napavine's Zach West did the same at 170 to allow both wrestlers to keep their season records perfect here in a mix-and-match competition featuring all of the region's 2B wrestling squads.

"All in all, we wrestled the best we have all season," Adna coach Craig Ferrier said. "Our wrestlers are starting to see all of their hard work pay off." Adna's Josh Nocis (113 pounds) and Garrett Morgan (160) both went 2-0, and Ferrier said Arin Engle (138), Jake Ferrier (152), Matt Aust (160) and Jeb Jewell and Anthony Fisher (182) all wrestled well.

West improved his season record to 8-0 with two wins on Tuesday. Napavine's Katyn Newcomb (152), Bryan Gibbons (145) and Lucas Macomber (220) also went at Adna.

Adna will compete in Wahkiakum's Down River Challenge Saturday in Cathlamet, and Napavine will host Adna, Winlock, Onalaska and Toledo in the Napavine Middle School gym Wednesday.
