Tray takes over board's gavel

Dec 13, 2012 (Tribune-Review - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Penn-Trafford School Board continued its practice of rotating the president's position among board members by selecting P. Jay Tray for the role last week.

Tray, a retired Penn- Trafford principal, had been the board's vice president for the past year. He becomes the sixth sitting board member to take a turn wielding the gavel.

Tray, 65, joined the board in December 2007 through an appointment. He will remain the district's legislative council representative for another year.

Toni Ising, a board member since 2009, now is the vice president.

Recreation boards Several school board members will retain their spots on local recreation boards.

Ising and Nick Petrucci were appointed to continue on the board for the Penn-Trafford Area Recreation Commission. Petrucci also keeps his longtime spot on the Trafford Recreation Board, for which he has organized an annual auction.

Phil Kochasic and Scott Koscho will stay on the Penn Township recreation board, and Tray will continue as the district's representative on the Penn Borough board.

2013 meetings The board generally is keeping the same meeting schedule next year, with most information meetings scheduled for 7 p.m. on the first Monday of the month and most regular meetings at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of the month.

The exceptions are information meetings scheduled for April 2 and Sept. 3 and a regular meeting scheduled for Dec. 3.

The school board will continue its tour of buildings by holding information meetings on Jan. 7 at Sunrise Estates Elementary School, Feb. 4 at McCullough Elementary School, March 4 at Penn Middle School, and April 2 at Harrison Park Elementary School.

All other meetings will be held in the high school library. No meetings are scheduled for July.
