How Will Obama's Reelection Impact National Energy Policy?

AURORA, Colo., Nov. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- First post-election briefing features high-wattage panel of energy policy experts Will President Obama's reelection spark the acceleration of the energy programs already unveiled in his first term, or will his administration amp up a more aggressive position on major energy issues The future of oil and gas production, possible regulatory changes and numerous other challenges face the $372 billion+ energy industry in light of the election outcome.

Energy Central's EnergyBiz magazine hosts the industry's first post-election briefing next week, with a powerful lineup of energy insiders discussing possible courses of action from the Oval Office. Held November 16 from 8:15-11:00 a.m. EST at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., the panel will be moderated by EnergyBiz Editor-in-Chief Martin Rosenberg.

Stanford University's Dan Reicher, former assistant secretary of energy and top energy advisor to Obama, could provide the earliest clues about where the president may be headed during his second term. Two speakers will address congressional receptivity to energy issues: Rep Ed. Whitfield, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, and Rick Boucher, former chairman of the House Subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet and former chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality.

CenterPoint Energy's senior vice president of policy and government affairs, Clarence "Bud" Albright, who was undersecretary of energy and staff director of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, will provide insights about the natural gas and shale industry's future. Karen Alderman Harbert, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for 21st Century Energy, will address what leaders would like to see accomplished during this administration and the likelihood of getting it done.
