TransData Triumphs at U.S. Patent Office, Secures Reexamination Certificates for Wireless Smart Meter Patents

DALLAS, Aug. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- TransData Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced, solid-state power & energy metering products, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (U.S. Patent Office) has issued reexamination certificates confirming the patentability of three TransData patents related to digital electric meters equipped with internal wireless communications. The recent certificates conclude four anonymous patent reexamination requests filed with the U.S. Patent Office.

TransData revolutionized wireless meter communications in the electric utility industry by inventing and pioneering wireless "under-glass" communication technology for use in digital electric meters. Digital electric meters incorporating this technology are commonly referred to today as "smart meters" or "advanced metering infrastructure" (AMI) systems.
